UNBELIEF IS THE SIN

Despite the efforts of Tanzanian government through its national electoral committee (NEC) on enforcing the law against right to vote and being voted, formation of political youth organization
like Umoja wa vijana wa Chama cha Mapinduzi (UVCCM), Baraza la vijana Chadema (BAVICHA), CHASO e.t.c and the roles of various International agencies, still the problem of youth participation in democratic election is rampant. It is argued that youth are agent of change in all aspect of human life that is socially economically and politically. Though there is evidence on the increment number of youth registered in the national electoral commission registries, few of participates in political election, moreover though many have attained legible registration age of 18 years old most of them have not been registered in the electoral commission registry.  This is supported by UNDP, (2013) which reported that though many youth have been registered in the Tanzania national electoral commission their turn-out during election is very low and their participation in formal political election is very minimal compared to older people. UNDP, (2013) reports despite the country’s track record in promoting the rights of women, young people and other historically marginalized groups to enjoy equal status with other citizens in decision making the country still has a long way to go to achieve equal opportunities for women, the youth and people with disabilities.  (MS Tanzania 2008) stated that recently youth are politically and economically marginalized in Tanzania, thus they have no or little say in decision making or conditions that affect their lives. Stiftung (2010) Although there are several youth organizations and groups within civil society, it is still unclear as to how they are represented in formal decision making bodies from local level to national level
